It's Good Friday and Greg is visiting Alamo Village. Perhaps the place will be under overcast skies and spookily empty for him. went to alamo village on wednesday. back home now. and like you mentioned, it was overcast for a while and there were only four people visiting, not including us. when we were in the town, they were in the 'mo. when we went to the alamo, they went to the town. so we had both places to ourselves. oh, and happy easter! (and passover too. we wouldnt want to offend anyone.)

I used to see a small production of this in Spring Lake, New Jersey. To paint a picture of how small the theatre was, the last row was about 25 feet from the stage. There wasn't a bad seat in the place and I actually wanted to sit in the last row (its an Italian-back-to-the-wall thing). It was always very good even though it was not Lavish by any means. They served cider and cookies during intermission and afterwards, the cast waited in the lobby and you could talk to them or a get a picture with them. It was all around good afternoon of fun!

Just finished watching the (colorized) Alastair Sim version of SCROOGE, after a day's visit to San Antonio. The Riverwalk lights and the Christmas tree on Alamo Plaza are really something to see. Make sure to post some pics of the decorated Alamo plaza in the Christmas Greetings thread!

I got up at 6:00 today to watch the version with Reginald Owen. What a terrible adaptation! Owen must me the worst scrooge ever made. He doesnt sound mean, he talks to fast, he's hunched over, and walks like he has crap in his pants. I could go on and on!

i have seen the '51 version and Sim is very good. the story is a little more realistic becuase you actually see him eat dinner in a pub before going home and it makes more sense when he tells marley "You could be a piece of spoiled meat or a blot of mustard." in scott's version he says the same thing, but he has only eaten a little porridge. which version is tcm playing this year on christmas eve?

There have been so many adaptations of Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" over the years and I'd like to know what your favorite is. The top three choices are the post popular versions and then there is Other. My personal favorite is the one made in 1984 with George C. Scott. He is one of my favorite actors and continued to amaze with this wondeful performance as Scrooge. It is also is rather frightening and perfectly gets across the point that Dickens had in mind. P.S There is another Christmas Carol movie in the works right now scheduled for a 2008 release. When I find out more details I'll post them. George C. Scott as Scrooge Movie Poster

$3.50? Wow you california guys sure are lucky! Matinees are at $7.50 and evening prices I think are around $9.50. That's why unless i really am dying to see a movie, i just wait for the DVD to come out.

Happy Christmas Eve everyone!
I have to go to church today at 4:30 and its always a great mass to be at. Every year to start the mass, they have a boy and girl pretend to be Mary and Joseph. They make their way around the church while a narration is being read and they finally en dup at a large nativity set where they uncover the baby Jesus. Then these beatiful christmas lights are lit and the church looks amazing. Its the only time out of the year where I actually enjoy to church. Also, during the last year I have been joining my Dad as one of the ushers, to help collect money and control crowd traffic at communion, and this will be my first Christmas Eve Mass.
