In the last few months I have become a member of the Board of Trustees for the Proprietary House in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, the site of the only remaining British Royal Governor's Mansion, a position held by William Franklin (Benjamin's son) from 1774-1776 until he was arrested by the Provincial Congress of New Jersey. Below are pictures from the arrest reenactment.

Getting back to the Indian food discussed in this thread, I am becoming a regular at the Indian restaurant I told you guys about. I go with my family once every two months or so, but I brought a friend who is a vegetarian and he loves it, so I go with him like once a month. It's been adding up to a free meal every now and then.

Saw that on Rich's Facebook this morning. It truly is a shame. I'm glad I got to go there once in my life. But you guys must have so many memories.
Is there any chance at all it will be bought and reopened?

Yes, we are the last remaining of the original Alamo boards. Although we've had our rough patches and lost a TON of content due to the server switch, a majority of what we had still remains, and I have no intention of closing this down, even if no one posts any more.

Jack Edmondson did such a good impression of the Duke at Joan Headley's recent Alamo party that it was almost scary. Before I read the caption you wrote, I thought to myself, "Oh look, a never before seen behind-the-scenes Duke Photo!" LOL Wow, he looks good doing that.

On this date in 1836, 250 brave Texan soldiers lost their lives defending the Alamo against a Mexican army of 4,000. They were from many different states, and many different lands-- all standing as one, in the name of freedom.
Why do YOU remember the Alamo?

Although this photo is from a 1925 history of the United States, it appears to have been taken at least pre-1911. Notice that while the photographer has tried to crop out the Hugo and Schmeltzer building, a portion of it still overlaps the facade. Good eye for detail, Nef. I didn't even notice that.

I would like to invite everyone to join a new Facebook group called ALAMO FOREVER, which was created by myself and Wade Dillon, from Alamo Sentry. Our goal is to encourage today's youth to get involved in the history of the Alamo and to always remember! Please join us and check out our photo albums, articles, and of course, share your Alamo experiences with us. Although this group was created to get the youth more active in the Alamo community, that does not limit anyone from joining, regardless of age. (We are all young at heart, after all. ) Please visit this link to join us: www.facebook.com/pages/Alamo-Forever/382324480460?ref=tsThank you, Greg Caggiano & Wade Dillon

I was watching STAR WARS: THE PHANTOM MENACE the other night and was surprized to see a familiar scene from THE SEARCHERS being reenacted. It's the one where Martin Pauley (Jeffrey Hunter) is shown leaping down from the platte at night in order to save Debbie (Natalie Wood) from the Indian camp. In the STAR WARS version , Young Anakin Skywalker jumps down from an identical height in an attempt to rescue his mother from the Tusken Raiders camp. The setup of the scene is exact. Could Lucas have been a big THE SEARCHERs fan? He based STAR WARS of so many different materials, so it's possible.
