I see! A kind of goats maybe? I don't like anything with horns. Being the type of person I am, they are a demonic creature if you study symbology. Ah, so you don´t like bulls and unicorns either... Kidding aside, no animals are demonic! That man has has given certain animals certain attributtes is a whole different matter. The symbol of rams or goats representing the devil, is just that - a symbol. No sane person would claim that those animals display any demonic characteristics. People has made up all kinds of silly stuff through the centuries. We can´t go around believing in all kinds of superstitions. Just my two cents...

An Oompah band, at a recent Wurstfest. In late October, early November, New Braunfels holds its Wurstfest. Can you imagine an entire festival dedicated to the wonders of sausages?! Yum. Similar to the Oktoberfest in Munich, the Wurstfest is held in big pavillions, with music, dancing, food, beer and booths of all manner of things for sale. I am looking forward to it, I tell you!

When I was traveling across Britain and Europe in 1985, no matter what town I was in, what kept me going was my daily sausage on a roll. I never grew tired of my sausages and never will. (Hopefully.)

Blood sausage and haggas Roasted slices of blood sausage with sugar on is delicious! Sausages are very popular here in Denmark. We have sausage stands all over the place (they have wheels and a motor. At night the owner drives it to a garage, walking in front of it holding on to a stearing "stick" or shaft - like a dog on a leash). The germans however, are the "sausage kings". They have all kinds of sausages imaginable. What´s haggas? The word reminds me of the Scottish dish called haggis (spell?), which I believe is sheep intestines...

Haggas? I think I know what it is, some one fill me in? I'm sure Mike can give a better definition, but haggis is sheep intestines stuffed with a mixture of oatmeal and mutton renderings. Most real sausage is stuffed in intestines of one kind, or another. Hey Seguin, my brother was stationed in Germany in the late Seventies and sent a stein filled with blood sausage to my folks. It tasted pretty much like ham to me, although it was a little greasy.

We slice it and put in on a frying pan (using butter for grease) just to warm it up and then eat it with some sugar on. Much like you do with pancakes. Can´t you buy it in the US?

Probably at some specialty butcher shop.
Hey Greg, please don't go vegan on us over a little sheep's intestines!

They also use the sheeps stomach filled with bits and pieces of meat, spices, potatoes and it's sewn up in the stomach and boiled..I've seen it but never ate any.

I was doing some early evening watering in the backyard last night, only to discover that New Braunfels has Lightning Bugs. How cool is that? Back when I was a lad in Illinois, my brother and I would catch Lightning Bugs (also known as 'fireflies') and then put them in a jar. They made quite a lantern. (Of course, we had the forethought to punch holes in the jar lid to let the little critters breathe.)

Were you born in Illinois?
and I always wished that we could get lightning bugs in NJ. I think they would be pretty cool.

Were you born in Illinois? Yep. In a little farming community, east of Chicago. We were surrounded by farms, had a gravel road with plank bridges over a ditch, in lieu of gutters. There was a pond at the end of the street where we would raft along and pretend we were pirates.
