Are they open 356 days a year?, i thought that they closed part of the year I believe you're right, Bromhead. I didn't catch that. I know that the Village is at least closed on both Christmas and New Year's Day.

Alamo Mo remembers his first visit to the Alamo in March, 2005.
Ever since I first saw the Alamo on the Big Screen at the age of 7 it was always in my mind to one day visit the shrine in San Antonio. I thought for many years it was just a dream, that dream came true thanks to Davy and Ned back in March of 2005. I will never forget the first time I walked down the street and there all of a sudden was the real ALAMO and I just stopped dead in my tracks to savour the moment and just soak it all up.
The most moving part for me was walking through those doors and seeing inside for the first time and I will never be able to explain my emotions at that moment in time when I set foot on such hallowed ground and I doubt I will ever be able to either.
I must be honest and say that after a while I thought to myself this building is small but I reckon if you take away all those buildings and shops around it, there is no doubt that the ALAMO would look huge and very inspiring in stature. I have very special memories of my first visit and what those brave men must have gone through on March the 6th 1836, Brave Men One And All.

The following excerpt from Aissa Wayne's book, JOHN WAYNE, MY FATHER, should be of interest to Waynamo fans. The passage concerns the then 23 year old Aissa's feelings regarding her father's passing in June, 1979. Following the burial, my mother held a short and subdued and awkward reception. Even more so because of the funeral, which my mother knew my dad never wanted her relations with Michael were strained. When most of the mourners had gone, I gazed at my mother across her dining room, recalling how much my father loved her. I remembered how he loved zipping her up as she dressed for a party, how on those Encino nights they always looked so young and carefree. I remembered their huge, safe, warm bed, and my climbing between them mornings when I was a child. "Three together", I used to say. "Three together always."(NOTE: That last line is what Aissa, as Angelina "Lisa" Dickinson says to her parents in the film.)

Artist G.T. Johnson II is selling prints of his Waynamo paintings on eBay, with a starting bid of $19.95 each. Not bad.
