Sing-Along around the campfire. (One song that went in part, "Away across the Ocean" sounded like "Turkey In The Straw.) Then there was "Old Dan Tucker", "Camptown Ladies" and "New York Girls (Can You Dance The Polka?") They kept at it late into the night and I listened through the tentwall.[/quote]

An addendum to Rick Range's above message. If that email address for Governor Abbott does not work for you, you can contact the governor's office directly in Austin at their webpage. That's where I left my message. Click on link below: www.gov.texas.gov/contact

As I was in San Antonio this past Saturday for the Battle of Bejar reenactments in La Villita, I thought I would stay long enough to get some photos of the Alamo Plaza Christmas tree and Riverwalk lights. Unfortunately, I had expended my camera's batteries taking reenactment photos, so was only able to squeeze off a couple of plaza tree photos, but no Riverwalk lights. Alamo Plaza Christmas tree in the bleak morning.. Alamo Plaza Christmas tree in the cold and drizzly evening. As the tree's lights shifted color, I had to get two shots of it.

Here's a song I just had recorded July 20, 2016. Please watch the video!
"Sore About Baby"... A song I wrote a few years back sung by Natalie Gordon. Picture yourself in a smoky, low-lit night club back in the 1950's. Just a piano, stand-up bass, drums, and "The Voice".
Vocal: Natalie Gordon Bass: Gary Calhoun James Drums: Matt Simon Piano: Justin Sherburn Finger Popping: Natalie Gordon
Melody & Lyrics: Ned Huthmacher Music Arrangement: Natalie Gordon Engineer: Gary Calhoun James Single Mastered by : Gary Calhoun James Recorded At: Bell Tree Studio, Austin Texas July, 2016

Per "General" Paul Barrass regarding the construction of the Alamo...
"We will do our best. It's been a while since we built one, but I have enlisted Ex-builders, Royal Engineers, Canvass experts, painters and folk good with hammers. We can't dig the forward redoubt* but we have a practical but authentic looking solution planned."
* lunette/tambour
We have our 100 plus Texan Infantry And 6 to 8 guns. The 5 Mexican Battalions are all recruiting well and it now appears we will have a larger force of Zapadores than I supposed. We should have 300 easily and probably 500 infantry. 50 to 70 gunners. At least 10 Mexican Cannon, possibly more, plus Civilians, Baggage, Band, etc..
We are even having Alamo Ale brewed!
The organizers have asked if we can do a 21 gun salute with 21 cannon. And a Fire by files of 300 muskets for the 300 years of Grand Lodge by night. A 'River of fire'. Both Armies will participate. No us and them, Same Cantina etc..
We have folk coming from the USA, Canada, Holland, Germany, and we think Malta! It was just going to be a little thing here but folk got enthusiastic.
