For lovers of Star Trek, Deep Space Nine, the Alamo references scattered throughout the series may be baffling to many. But not to Bill Chemerka, of THE ALAMO SOCIETY.
Says Bill:
Producer Ira Steven Behr first "crossed the line" of The Alamo Society in 1997. He is gentleman, a talented professional and, of course, a genuine Alamo buff. As reported years ago in The Alamo Journal, Behr and his creative peers have interjected Alamo references in a number of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episodes (some even featuring Casey Biggs, who portrayed Travis in Alamo...The Price of Freedom). Among the Alamo-related episodes to view are"Wrongs Darker Than Death or Night," "Afterimage," "Once More Unto the Breach," "It's Only a Paper Moon," "Prodigal Daughter" and "The Changing Face of Evil," which featured an Alamo diorama!
Rich Curilla adds:
Ira Behr is a great friend. He makes a pilgrimage to the Alamo and Brackettville once a year, usually with three Alamo friends in tow: Rick Schultz (a network news producer), Mike McGreevy (a movie-of-the-week director) and Fred Rappaport (past exec. producer of "Baywatch Hawaii"). Ira is currently executive producer of the awesome new series (on Bravo, I think) "The 4400." He wrote two of the original scripts for the series premiere (5 episodes) last year, and is penning several more for next season's 13 episodes. The network has renewed it.
Wade Dillon provides these screen captures of the Deep Space Nine Alamo diorama that he got from his friend (and mine) Tony Pasqua:
Rich Curilla adds:
I will ask Ira Behr if he can tell us who the model builder was. It does indeed appear to be a fine model (notice the Waynamo gateway?). Maybe he can direct us to some pictures. Thanks Wade for digging a spur into Tony for those you posted.
