For a Hollywood-type movie, and a Disney one at that, I thought the costuming was not bad....actually, better than The Alamo (1960).

Remember that it was first a three part mini-series on the DISNEYLAND TV show. Disney was shrewd enough to have filmed it in color, even though it was broadcast in black and white. With the unexpeted popularity of the series, Disney quickly edited down the episodes into a feature length film for theatrical release.

If you look closer, you'll notice that the American unis and the Mex unis are one in the same, with some modifications; wings. The American bell shakos are not the right period. They came into use in the 1820s, but they still look good.
As to the unis of D C K o t W F, The Last Command, and Wayne's Alamo, the unis are of the 1820s, not the mid 1830s issue. Plus, the Wayne unis are almost a complete fabrication; red coatees on the infantry? Red coatees were worn by music, but not the line infantry. The also had red coatees for certain guard and grenadiers of the Amer-Mex war but that was 10 years later.
