The Chapel is the only part of the Alamo proper in this film and the Mexican Army is dressed in white... Good battle shots though.

For $5.95, I guess it's at least worth having. Thanks, Alex.

Like many of the cheap, B 'period' films of the 30's HEROES OF THE ALAMO imagined that anything taking place in the West should feature folks dressed like cowboys. But, I guess we shouldn't complain too loudly. Even the 1951 film MAN FROM THE ALAMO, starring Glen Ford, had Alamo defenders dressed as cowpokes. Those Alamo defenders really could've used a pair of pearly handled six-shooters each, though.

I didnt even know there was a silent version. I guess the type of movie theatre you owned back then dictated what kind of film you could show, so they made two versions?

Greg, long before DVDs, Laser Discs, or VHS tapes, if a person wanted to own a film for home viewing, they could always go to their local film shop and buy an 8mm, or 16mm version of their favorite movie for a moderate price. Only thing was, they would have to settle for a silent version of the film, or else an edited down, twenty minute version. It was better than nothing.

I have this 10 minute 16mm version of Alastair Sim's CHRISTMAS CAROL that is pretty amusing.
Scenes include:
Scrooge sends Cratchitt home. Scrooge meets Marley's ghost. Scrooge attends the Cratchitt's Christmas dinner. A redeemed Scrooge raises Bob Cratchitt's salary.
All in a nutshell.
