LtCol Anthony Durnford R.E. Colonel Durnford commanded Lord Chelmsford's No.2 Column of his field force. at middle drift, which consisted of... One Rocket battery (three 9-pounders; Major and bombardier R.A., with 8 men 1/24th). 1st Regiment, Natal Native Contingent (three battalions) Six troops, Natal Native Horse (Sakhali Horse, Christians all) Approxmately 450 men. His grave in Dundee South Africa.
