Hay Mo, Did you visit "Zulu Dawn's" Isandhlwana? I was told that the hill is quite close to the real Isandhlwana.

Hi Mike Yes indeed we did the ZULU DAWN set but sadly only from a distance due to safety issues and my guide did advise me not to take my mates wandering over where it was filmed !!!!!!!. It is called " ISIPHEZI HILL " and as you can see it is not really at all like Isandlwana. It is about 20 odd miles from Isandlwana and on a clear day you can see the real thing in the distance from Isiphezi. The 4th photo was taken down at Villa San Soucci in P/Mburg where the garden party was filmed for ZULU DAWN and this is me with the present owner Louis. Enjoy

Mo, when you registered, you signed yourself in as Alamom0. You used the number zero, instead of an "O" at the end.

Safety Concerns: Murder & Robbery just to name 2 !!!!!!!!!!! Mo I thought so, I was wondering about the political climate there these days. Was there a village or town down there or something? Isn't Isiphezi mountain located in Babanango along the Nquthu-Babanango road? Mike

Hi Mike
Yes you ain't far off you pass it on the way to the Prince Imperial's monument. There are parts of the battlefield areas that are safe but others these days are sadly not this is part of an e mail I received recently from my regular Tour Guide out there, but again it ain't that bad and do not let this put you off going as long as you have a good guide and stick to their rules you are as safe as houses as they say !!!!!!!!
Hi Mo.
I would like to make everyone aware, on Sunday one of the local tour operators was doing a Battlefields Tour and they were travelling between Rorke's Drift and Isandlwana, when they were approached by armed men and attempted hijacking took place, fortunately the guide reacted quickly and managed to get the vehicle and the tourists to safely, the men did fire shots at the vehicle. Please will everyone to be aware and warn guides and visitors doing any Battlefields tours. Regards, Sarah-Jane Middlemas Strelitzia Tours PO Box 1462 Westville 3630

Here is a photo of " The Ngwebeni Valley " where the patrol from Isandlwana came across the Zulu Impi and as we know the rest is now history. Can you imagine riding up to the edge where we are standing and seeing 25,000 Zulu's !!!!!!!!!!. If you look though in the far dsintance you can see " Isiphezi Hill where Zulu Dawn as filmed The second photo was taken at the Prince Imperial's Monument at the spot where the Zulu's killed him.

Great photo's Mo, Have you any shots of "Conical Hill" where the rocket battery came to grief? Or the donga that Durnford held untill he ran out of ammunition? Or at the Mangeni gorge where Chelmsford Established the "New" Camp and sent Milne to "Kindly take your telescope to a high point, and note the events at Isandhlwana" I can go on and on... Again, thanks for the photo's Oh, any Majuba Hill photo's? Mike
