Hi all. This is to informally announce the publication of my new novel, "One Domingo Morning: The Story Of Alamo Joe". As the title implies, the book is my own take on the long neglected tale of Travis' slave Joe. Here's a link to the book's webpage. Take a peek. www.freewebs.com/nedscornerThanks for looking in. -Ned-

Thanks, AlamoGuy and Bromhead. Just received word from the publisher that the official release date for the book will be Tuesday, November 23, 2004. www.freewebs.com/nedscorner has all of the latest information on it. Yes, someone has already informed me of the fact that Barnes & Noble will not be distributing the book until February 28, 2005----why that's well into the siege!

Hi all! Well, today, November 23, 2004 is the Official release date for "ONE DOMINGO MORNING The Story of Alamo Joe" and I couldn't be more pleased. For those of you who would like a personalized copy of the book I still have a few available for sale. Refer to the book's webpage for complete details. www.freewebs.com/nedscornerWhile one personalized copy listed on eBay ends today at 5:00 PM, I just listed another copy onto Amazon.com. Of course, failing all the above options, you can always haunt your local bookshop and order a copy. They make great stocking stuffers! Thanks for listening... Nef

I have known Ned Huthmacher for a number of years and never knew how wonderful a writer he is. I have always wondered about Joe,the slave that William B. Travis had with him at the Alamo. But no one ever bothered to put the pieces together and tell his story. Ned has done this in a most masterful way. By combining fact with fiction, and a few movie references here and there, Ned has presented a complete picture of one of the Alamo's unsung heroes. What I enjoyed was the simple, straight forward telling of the tale. The characters come alive on the page. My favorite is Ned's description of Crockett's entry into San Antonio. With his "gun metal grey" hair. You gotta love this stuff. Ned captures the human complexities of Joe and vividly describes his reactions to the events and people around him. This is a "must have" for any Alamo collector. I doubt if there will ever be a book covering Joe's story as completely as "One Domingo Morning". Ned was sure he was right....and then went ahead. Thanks so much, Mike, for the kind words. They mean a lot to me. Movie references? WHAT movie references?

For those of you who may live in the area, the review/author profile is set to appear in the Sunday "U" section of the San Gabriel Valley Daily Tribune, The Whittier Daily News and The Pasadena Star News in around three weeks. Watch for it. www.freewebs.com/nedscorner

is their anyway you can tell how many total you have sold or how good your book is doing? Too soon to tell. But, unless the book is doing fantabulously well, I'll probably only be getting quarterly results fom the publisher. Meanwhile, the news photographer I saw this past Saturday seems to think that the article may be coming out in an issue of this week's paper. If so, then that's 80,000 more potential buyers. 'Potential', mind you.

Well, the book review/author profile did not come out in this past Sunday's newspaper. Perhaps it's just as well, though. It would only have gotten lost in all of the jumble of AFTER CHRISTMAS sales ads. Maybe next week... Meanwhile, has anyone visited the ONE DOMINGO MORNING guestbook lately. Stopo by and say 'hidy',if you haven't already. www.freewebs.com/nedscorner

Good read Ned, That brings up something that i just remembered. About 30 years ago, i was talking to one of my Fathers School teacher friends about history and he told me that he is a direct relation to one of the slaves at the Alamo. Now i can't remember who he said but i can probably get some info on him if you want for any "revision" you might be doing.. Just a thought
Maybe he was pulling my leg but he seemed to be serious as he was telling me his story.
