1.A corrected transcription of the letter appears in Bill Groneman's Alamo Defenders (Austin: Eakin Press, 1990), 133-134. Notice how the footnote says "a corrected transcription of the letter..?" Could this actually be referring to the other "copy" of the letter, the one that says "I am with my friends," as opposed to the above version which states "I am among friends"? NOTE: It would be easier to follow if we limited the discussion of Crockett's Last Letter to one thread.
