Bromhead24 i did not recognize your user name at first, because i was thinking"i do not recall sending this Crockett link to this user name on the other Alamo site"then bam,i saw the familiar name of Martini Henry "shaken but not stirred"!yes indeed that link is a nice and lengthy read if you read all the chapters. the Crockett Deaths chapter is put together like a puzzle with alot of pieces that fit together!you have reports, photos, paintings,a little of this and a little of that and you have yourself a nice read and look! This version of Crockett's death scene is from a 1935 edition of the Crockett autobiography. (Notice the other bearded, hatless Texian captives that are standing behind Crockett.)

That's Quatermaster? Huh. Although now I guess we should call him JamesBond. Who killed you, Nefarious Crockett? I shall avenge your death!

Hay Nef, I noticed that there is a pad lock on the church door. When i was there last, the whole compound was open to the public except the 2nd story rooms of the long barracks. Whats up with that?? Mike

The chapel doors are in need of repair and would fall off of their hinges, were they not padlocked. You can still enter the chapel through the sideroom 'catacomb' passageway and then pass into the nave through the confessional door. We did indeed go up into the 2nd story room of the Long Barrack, but as the shutters were all bolted, could not see, without the aid of a flashlite.
All of the roofs are unsafe and closed to the public, but once the Village closed for the night, we were able to wander at will. There's still a platform on the SW corner of the facade, but it is so flimsy that we dared not try to climb it. The wall directly over the Main Gate is bowing out and has to be supported by lengths of cable.
