"Led Zeppelin" got its name from playing off the name of another popular band of the 60's, "Iron Butterfly" (of "Inna Gadda Da Vida" fame.)
Most well known Zeppelin song? Probably "Stairway To Heaven".

Early Led Zeppelin were a hell of a good band and heavy! On one of their first tours here in the late 60`s,Led Zeppelin was the opening act for Iron Butterfly! :oIt got to a point where people were giving the warm up band Zeppelin alot more applause than Iron Butterfly as the Headliner! ;D I had a chance to see Led Zeppelin in 73 in San Antonio, but when i went to check on tickets, all that was left were some seats in the very back of the Hemisphere Arena! I blew off going because i had wanted better tickets! In early September 1974 i went to an all day concert held in Memorial Stadium on the U.T.campus on Labor day! It was called ZZ Topp`s first annual Barn Dance. ZZ Top was the headline act, then you had Santana,Joe Cocker,Charlie Daniels and Bad Company and along came Jimmy page to play on a bunch of Bad Company`s songs and then play guitar solo`s with the Bad Company guitarist! ;D Jimmy Page had a record label at the time and Bad Company was among the first to be signed to it! When Jimmy Page was announced comming out to the stage with his guitar, the crowd all stood with their mouths open like a deer in headlights! I have to tell you Jimmy Page played the sheet out of his guitar and it was real sweet to hear! During the whole concert and especially ZZ Top and Bad Company with Jimmy Page i had a big ;D on my face! the advance ticket only cost me ten dollars and twelve dollars the day of the show!i still have that ticket stub as i do 90% of the other stubs of the concerts i saw in the early to late 70`s! ;D TED....aka.....cole_blooded

My favorite Zepplin song would be "The Ocean" from their Houses of the holy album.

Among Led Zeppelin`s heaviest songs is Heartbreaker, without a doubt! ;D The song of their`s that did get the most praise, radio play, etc, was Stairway to Heaven! John Paul Jones is among one of the most talented musicians around today,he plays a multitude of instruments! TED.....aka.....cole_blooded

Jimmy Page was in a band called the Yardbirds awhile also,we`re talking 65-66 here about! Led Zeppelin`s first album was out in 68 or so! I then guess you could say they`re getting older! TED....aka....cole_blooded

Robert Plant was selected by a majority vote as the best lead vocalist of all rock groups. This is at channel 93.7 (FM) - The Arrow in Houston.

Led Zep is still one of the classic hard rock bands that I like to listen to. My all-time fave in this genre is The Who!
