Review by Shannon Box
Living in the San Antonio area, I've seen this film several times. It is played daily at the IMAX on the famous riverwalk. If you visit San Antonio, it's important that you see this film. Preferably before you actually go inside the Alamo. The film brings out the carnage and sacrifice that was laid down by both sides. Mexico, as was their right, was trying to quell a revolt. The Texans, on the other hand, lost their faith with the government and sought independence through the force of arms.
Visiting San Antonio and touring the missions isn't like going to St. Louis and viewing the arch. It's something special. After all, the Alamo stood before New York existed.
Apart from all the other tourist activities, viewing, "The Alamo: Price of Freedom," is as important as having "barbacoa" on a weekend morning. Viva Travis! Viva Texas!

Al, you have to make your way down to San Antone and catch a showing or two of this movie. Shot in IMAX, it's an amazing film with a very memorable death scene for David Crockett.

Never been to Texas, so I can't vote. Well, go and check out the POF movie thread. Lots of photos there to give you an idea as to what it is all about. And, as I mentioned in a corresponding thread, APOF has the best battle scenes of any Alamo movie, hands down.

Like I said in the other thread, I loved Crockett's Death scene. It's just so spontaneous and realistic.

Hi Ya'll; I agree. The battle scences are the best; very real and very believalble. Crocketts death scene is take from Felix Nunces' account. (I think that's the name ) My friend Steve Abolt played the officer welding the sword. It is interesting to note that Steve er Major Abolt and I think he just got to be Col Abolt at New Orleans this year calls this film; " Price of Bordom ". I really like this film and look forward to seeing it again someday. On The IMAX of course. Nite All Al

For a movie that runs at just under an hour, how can it be considered boring? I even know people that watch it every day on their vacation when they go down there. (I'm sure Nef was one of them before he moved there.)

(I'm sure Nef was one of them before he moved there.) As an actor and one of the reenactors, Steve likely meant the 'hurry up and wait' mindset on the set. We'd have to stand in the sun during the heat of the day, or under hot lights at night for hours on end waitng for a scene to be shot. While the overall experience remains memorable, the tedium was not. It got to the point sometimes that, to alleviate our boredom, we'd set to watching the dung beetles at our feet with an unwarranterd fascination.

One of the best things about it was the music... Ah, the soundtrack. Barely 20 minutes long. Did I dub a CD of that for you?
