BAUGH, JOHN J. (1803-1836). John J. Baugh, adjutant of the Alamo garrison, was born in Virginia in 1803. He traveled to Texas in 1835 as a first lieutenant of Thomas H. Breece'sqv company of New Orleans Greysqv and took part in the siege of Bexar.qv After the battle he was promoted to captain and served as Lt. Col. James C. Neill'sqv adjutant with the Texan force left to garrison the town. Baugh entered the Alamo with the garrison under Lt. Col. William Barret Travisqv on February 23, 1836, when the Mexican army arrived. He died in the battle of the Alamoqv on March 6, 1836.
