Howdy folks,
I am related to a New Orleans (or San Antonio) Grey named William Brennan (also spelled Brenan) who was under Col. Petus' command at Goliad. He was one of the few that survived the massacre and according to the muster rolls of the Texas Army, he then proceeded eastward and joined Sam Houston and fought under Sherman at San Jacinto.
I have found two accounts, other than the muster rolls, that tell of him but the two accounts differ from one another. The first is from the book Eighteen Minutes and the second is from the book New Orleans Greys. Both tell of him being at Goliad and surviving the massacre, but Eighteen Minutes states that he and a couple of others joined Houston's force a few days later. However, New Orleans Greys states that he was found several days after the massacre wandering around Goliad in a state of shock.
Does anyone know where I could find some information, primary sources preferred, to further explain what happened to him after the massacre? Any help is greatly appreciated.
