Fess Parker has passed away at the age of 85. RIP, Fess. Another positive link to our youth gone.

Seems that Alamo curator Dr. Bruce Winders had a memorial table set up at the Alamo yesterday in honour of Fess Parker. (Photo by Ranger James H. Hood.)

I went to the Alamo this afternoon to pay my respects at the Fess Parker Memorial table in the courtyard and to snap a few photos of it, but the display had been moved inside the Alamo church next to the information desk. The portrit of Fess has a real stuffed racoon perched atop it, with the potted flowers below. The condolence book was on the information desk and I had to stand in line to sign it. Glad to see that the folks at the Alamo are saavy enough to realize that it was Fess Parker who brought the Alamo to the consciousness of an entire generation of Baby Boomers, and then some.
