I just finished watching the movie Island in the Sky (1953) staring John Wayne and was suprised to see that a very young Fess Parker and James Arness were also in it. All three have stared in Alamo movies.

I have only seen parts of the movie and didnt realize good ole Fess was in it. I'll have to look closer next time. Oh, and glad to see you fianlly posted...  |

Fess does not have any speaking parts, but does get a close up of his face a couple of times while flying a plane. He looks very young.

That's funny, the story is, Fess was discovered by Walt Disney, upon Disney's viewing of the Sci-Fi film THEM, in which Fess portrays a pilot who's been committed to the mental ward of a hospital for claiming to have seen giant flying ants. James (JJim Bowie) Arness had the title 'role' in the Sci-Fi thriller, THE THING, while Richard (Col. Travis) Carlson portrayed a sceintist in pursuit of THE CREATURE FOM THE BLACK LAGOON. |

That is all true about "Them". Alamo connections there also. I think Fess plays a pilot in that movie also. AMC has been showing Island in the sky alot lately. Try to catch it and you will see the three Alamo actors.

Just finished watching The Thing from another world and in it is James Arness (Bowie), Kenneth Tobey (Bowie), and the actor that played Jocko in Wayne's Alamo.
