DUEL FOR CANNONS (1981) by Dane Hartman, WARNER BOOKS It seems only fitting that this first in a series of "Dirty Harry" Callahan paperback books should involve the Alamo. Led from the streets of San Francisco to the byways of Bejar, Harry finds himself in pursuit of a villian with a vendetta--- against Harry himself. Following clues left on the scene of each gruesome crime, Harry arrives at the Alamo with his Smith & Wesson .44 Magnum for a showdown in the dark! What can I say that hasn't already been said in the book's synopsis? Dane Hartman has written a 'fast-paced tale with hair-raising action and violence, unbearable suspense and hairy chase sequences'. Hartman has also captured Harry Callahan to a T and it is not hard to imagine the Clint Eastwood character in action when poring through the pages of this 172 page book. It was with regret that I came to the final page, all too soon. While a hard to find book, this Dirty Harry tale is not impossible to locate, as the series became very popular with fans of the Clint Eastwood movies. the ISBN # is ISBN 0-446-90793-6 Go ahead, make your day.

I know what you're thinking, in all the excitement, did he fire five rounds, or six? The question is, how lucky do you feel?

Yeah, it hearkens back to the scene in the 1945 film, SAN ANTONIO where Errol Flynn and the bad guy shoot it out inside the Alamo church.
