"The Alamo" (2004) DVD is slated for release on 09/28/2004. I have already placed a pre-order for mine on the internet. I'm ordering the 'Canadian' version, shown below. The U.S. release DVD cover shows an American flag in the background, in order to perhaps draw on the patriotism of U.S. viewers. (Even though it wasn't a U.S. war.) Let's not be forgetting that at least 35 Brits, 9 Tejanos and a number of Continental Europeans all fell within the walls of that beleagured mission so that Texas could be a free republic. I hope they remember...I hope Texas remembers.

Well my DVDs arrived this morning and I am well pleased with them the sound is excellent especially if you have a complete surround sound system. I only hope they bring out the complete Directors cut soon. The few deleted scenes included on the DVD were OK but nothing spectacular. Front cover of DVD Inside:

A bizarre looking inner sleeve. What's with the church facade? It looks to be suffering from Upper Center Window Disease.

I just received my Hong Kong version of the DVD the other day and it seems to be a legitimate release. I purchased it by mail for $9.99. It has a real nice slipcover, but no box. (I'm just going to go out and buy a box for 99 cents at Walmart.) While the language on the cover is English/Chinese, the insert art is all in English. You may recognize the cover photo, showing Texians on the west wall. You may also recognize the DVD's tagline: Stand Your Ground". There's someone on ebay who is selling the identical DVD, but the cover's all in English. Like the Hong Kong, one, there's no vinyl case. But hey, he's only asking $5.99 for it and some have sold for as much. Might be worth checking out, if you intend on saving your money now, before laying out the really big bucks on the tentative December Director's cut, with commentary by Hancock.
