i think this has come up before, but why didnt they build the rest of it, and whats with the door? In "Cloak And Dagger", the film for which the set was built, production only needed to show a closeup on the Alamo church doors. All long shots from the Plaza were of the real Alamo. The Daughters Of The Republic Of Texas do not ordinarily allow film crew inside the actual Alamo, as it is considered a shrine. As for that extra door, you got me davy! Could've been put there for use by the film crews to make lugging around props and camera equipment a lot easier.

I have an old close-up photo of the Alamo, circa 1917, with my great uncle in his doughboy uniform standing in front of the church door. Clearly, that door has been replaced. I wonder how many doors there have been and how old the current one is. Does anyone know??

Here's the 'raid for cattle' bridge from the 'Waynamo', at Fort Clark, in Brackettville. (Remember when those two soldado sentries were ambushed by the Texian raiding party and fell backward into the water?)

This lively illustration of a very Waynamo-looking Alamo battle was published in our local newspaper's PARADE magazine, back in 1965.

Before he became popular as a fine pen and ink artist, Gary Zaboly dabbled in paint. Here are two early examples of Gary's work. Enjoy!
