Yeah, I remember when my Grandpa was staying with us over the holiday how he would wake everyone up at 6:00 AM by shouting something like, "Get up all you lazybones, the parade's about to start!" It all seems so long ago now. But I remember... Memories are the key to the past! Thats a nice memory you have... Yes, it pays to keep a nice memory album---in your mind.

I remember waiting to see the pipe bands march by. Oh, you can guarantee that there will be at least one pipe band involved. Somehow both the police and fire departments are just mad about the pipes.

I think every major city in the US and Cananda have police and fire department pipe bands..And they are good!!

Mike, why aren't Uilleann pipes that popular with pipers? I saw The Chieftans using such pipes in concert and they sounded great.

And you almost have to sit down to play them so they arent very good for marching..Also they aren't as loud as great highland pipes.

Oh, you're right. The Chieftain piper was sitting down. Regular pipes will drown out the other insturments also, I have seen Paddy Moloney play the great highland pipes too but only during solo performances. PADDY MOLONEY Mus. D. HC., composer, leader and founding member of The Chieftains.
