I was looking through the filmography of Hayden Christensen after seeing him in Star Wars Episodes II and III. Then I stumbled on "Shattered Glass", which is the story of the downfall of New Republic journalist Stephen Glass. He was a very popular journalist among his peers who knew nothing of what he was doing. Of the 47 articles he wrote for the paper, atleast 26 were partially or completely fabricated. Not only did he make up the story but people, phone numbers, websites and even his own notes so it wouldn't seem strange. The movie goes into how a Forbes technitian stumbled upon what was going up and unveiled the truth.
The acting was excellant, especially that of Hayden Christensen, the nerdy yet charming young man who lures you into feeling sad for him while carrying out this sinister plot. Also stars Peter Saarsgaard and Cloe Sevigny. Its a great little film that everyone should see.

I would love to watch that movie because I saw Glass being interviewed on "60 min." a couple of years ago. Incredible that he could pull it off. It also says a lot about the editors of the newspaper. They should not have been so gullible...

They should not have been so gullible... The DVD I got from Netflix came with the "60 Mins." interview as a special feature. He says he's a changed man but can anyone really trust him? As for the editors and fact checkers, Glass even faked his own notes along with creating fake websites/emails, even voice mails of fake people so everything checked out.

I saw the film in my journalism class about 3 years ago. It was well done and taught us a valuable lesson.
