Nope, it's not a lost still from the Waynamo, but rather a photo of Theodore Pitman's diorama of the Alamo at the State Capitol in Austin! Lots of detail, except for the 2nd story windows. Is there more to the diorama?

Here's a slightly different view, upper windows and all. Pretty good for a 1952 diorama, though, yes? (I don't even know if it still exists. )

It looks like "the line in the sand" and they are bringing out Bowie so he can cross it?

Yeah, that's about the size of it. Here's another diorama from 1982 by Jim Wildt that depicts the last stand of Crockett and his men. The Waynamo influence is unmistakable.

Prominent English historical artist Laurence Golbey did these two pencil sketches for a 1982 REAL WEST Magazine article by Phill Rosenthal concerning the Gonzales 32. Mr. Golbey also did the artwork for two other Alamo releated books: ROLL CALL AT THE ALAMO, by Phil Rosenthal and Bill Groneman and ALAMO SOLDIERS, by Phil Rosenthal. Bravo, Laurence!

Rob Jones, the fellow who is bringing the 35 mm print of John Wayne's THE ALAMO to Brackettville for a screening in the Waynamo compound on October 22nd has this to say about admission prices: All,
There has been some confusion over the admission prices and what it brings for this event. I'll try to summarize:
Adults $15.00 - All day admission to Alamo Village - Free Movie - Free Popcorn
Students $8.00 (6-18 y/o) - Same as above
Children FREE (Age 5 and Under) - Same as above
VIP's $50.00 - Same as above plus: - Free catered BBQ Dinner ($10.00 value) - Private meeting with the Wayne Family and Cast Members at the Village Cantina - Souvenier (1960 "THE ALAMO" 2005) folding chair ($35.00 value)
Value of a VIP TICKET: Priceless
For everything else, there's alamocard
P.S. There will be seating in the compound. Locals are encouraged to bring comfortable lawn or camping chairs.
-Rob Jones-NOTE: It would be wise to order the $50.00 VIP pass in advance, as seating in the Cantina is limited. email for further information: happy@hilconet.com

I thought i read that they (the Tickets) sold for $250.00? Nope, the hob-nobbing it with the Wayne family VIP ticket costs $50.00; all others are $15.00 for adults. As I seem to recall, back in 1998, a private Western-themed organization sponsored the Alamo cast reunion. Then, the ticket prices were $200.00 plus, I believe. Present then were Pilar Wayne, Joan O'Brien and Rudy Robbins. There was also this John Wayne impersonator who did all of the Duke's speeches from the film and posed for photos.

Well, a week from tonight, I'll be heading for Texas, via Ontario Airport. Aim to do some black powder shooting with Davy, Mo Jones, John Hinnant, Joan Headley, Tom Lindley, Gene and a few others on Friday. Then it's off to Joan's place, before making the 138 mile trek to Fort Clark in Brackettville where some of us have rooms. The following day will be one big shindig, with barbecue, music and rubbing elbows a'plenty, before the lights dim at last over the Waynamo compound and Dimitri Tiomkin's score is heard once more inside John Wayne's THE ALAMO.
