Hello everbody - I'm new to this forum but I couldn't resist creating an account, as I am a big fan of Alamo history, as well as the big epic films of the early 60's, of which Wayne's The Alamo was one of my favorites. Uncle Walt did a good job with his Davy Crockett at the Alamo, but the John Wayne version tops 'em all in my opinion. As someone stateed above, it's not real high on historical accuracy, but hey, who's quibbling? It is what it is, a grand example of the "historical" epic films that were in vougue in the early 1960s, and should be veiwed and enjoyed on that level. And ona purely ascetic level, you gotta admit those soldado uniforms in Wayne's film are nothing short of spectacular.... later gaters : )
