I have about 20 books and 100's of photos that I took on my 2 trips to the Alamo. I really like to make Alamo dioramas. I have a couple in the works now. Other than that I love to draw, paint and sketch anything Alamo. My favorite, however is working with diorama. The 3D just makes everthing come to life. Check 'em out. photobucket.com/albums/v620/mh33/Great site, by the way!

Thanks. They're scratch built from balsa foam that I purchase on-line. It's a nice medium in which to work. Fairly easy to carve, but very dusty!
I'm a member of the alamofilm and Alamo Sentry. I spent a good part of last night surfing this site. There's some good stuff in here. Nice site!

Amazing detail work! Some of those darkened photos could almost pass for movie stills! Here's one of the few surviving photos of an Alamo diorama that I built in 1973 that is now 'history'. It was done in H o scale.

After several house moves, the model was finally consigned to the garage, where moisture and dust caused it to crumble. But it was only after I found the mummified remains of a rat in the Long Barrack that I decided to dismantle the Alamo from the base. Alas, none of the buildings survived, but I still have over 800 hand painted soldiers, some artillery, pottery and sech.

This model of the Alamo by my Danish friend Kaj Andersen is sort of a compromise between the historic Alamo and the Waynamo. Built in 1973, it reflects the most up to date Alamo scholarship up to that time. I'm glad that he has not changed it. As can be seen on this closeup of the chapel facade, Kaj's attention to detail is remarkable. (Both photos appear in a Danish magazine.)

what are the walls made up of? Primarily of balsawood, covered by a thin layer of spackle, mixed with glue and then scored to resemble individual stones and adobe brick. That, plus a lot of patience.

I started to make a Alamo diorama back in the late 80's using paper-mache for the walls. I got the west wall and low barracks done before i burned out and gave it away. Now i wish i still had it.....It was in 1/76 scale

To the Gentleman who had the Alamo (that fell apart in the garage, and then he threw it away along with the dead rat, or I least I hope he included the rat, lol). You said you had a large number of figures left over from the Alamo you had. What scale are they ? Do you still have them ? I would be interested in purchasing them (or some of them) from you if the price is right. I just completed building an Alamo and need some figures for it. Please e me and let me know if you are interested or not. THANKS !! AlamoEm@Yahoo.com

I´ve looked at Kaj Andersen´s model of the Alamo with great interest since I´m Danish myself. The Danish text says: "It is known with great certainty how the battle went and Kaj Andersen knows it all and still corresponds with like minded people in Texas". I did´nt know that we have such great Alamo buff´s in Denmark as Kaj Andersen. It feels great to know that I´m not alone although I would´nt dare to compare myself to Kaj. What an enthusiast - just great!

Yes, indeed. Kaj is very talentd. That Alamo facade looks more like the Alamo than the real Alamo facade looks today. There is such detail in the model, that Kaj even hand constructed doors and shutters that actually open and close. All in H o scale.

Have you gotten in touch with Kaj yet, Seguin? No, not yet. I did call him once but nobody answered. I´ll have to try and call him again. It would be nice to know a local Alamo buff. I´m sure I could learn a lot from Kaj and I would love to see his diorama and have a look at his book about Zanco, the Danish Alamo defender...
