Sure, if you can conceal it well enough within the envelope. I don't have a problem. Again, the mailing address is on my webpage at: www.freewebs.com/nedscorner

I finally ordered Todd Hansen's "The Alamo Reader" off of Amazon. At 800 pages, it certainly looks impressive, at any rate. Does anyone out there have it yet? If so, give us your impression.

I'm heading out in the morning to look for it at my book store. I'll let you know if i find it. Are there lots of photo's?
I still would like to know if ANY photo exists of the low barracks, It wasn't raised untill after the civil war so there is a possibility that one exists out there somewhere...i hope

Todd Hansen's "The Alamo Reader" is quite a formidable book and will take some time delving through. One nice thing about it is that it gathers together each version of an eyewitnesses' account so that the reader may see how different the testimony becomes as the years go by. Another nice thing about it is that the book may be read in doses. There's a lot of food for thought here, so you may want to nibble off a bit here, a bit there and then digest it in fragments. You can also jump around the book and then come back to where you originally left off without ruining the book's flow. For the fledgling writer, or the serious student of the topic, this is truly an Alamo source book.
Hats off to Hansen. I myself can recall the tedious, time consuming efforts of consulting all the divers libraries around Texas and beyond for mere scraps of information. And here Hansen has gone and arranged them all in a very accesible and welcome place. Be forewarned, as someone else stated, that Hansen does not offer up his own slant to the material. While he does provide copious notes to explain the signifacence of a document, he leave it to the reader to interpret what he may.
Todd Hansen's "THE ALAMO READER" is going to be my nightstand book for many an evening's intriguing read.
(Oh, as to illustrations, there are none to mention, save for the Labatista plat of the Alamo and then John Sutherland's crude ground plan of the Alamo. Both of these maps of the compound, however, are explained in detail.)

With over 140 full-color photos, Frank Thompson's 2002 Salamander Press release, "THE ALAMO" remains the ultimate Alamo picture book. A hard bound, dust-jacketed, coffee-table sized volume, "THE ALAMO" not only gives a good account of the day to day conflict of the Alamo, it also explores the history and public perceptions of our most favorite pile of limestone throughtout the years, from books, to movies and playsets to historical collectibles, comics and bubble gum cards. There's something here for every Alamo buff. The book is yet available on Mr. Thompson's website and he will autograph it to your specifications. A just released 2005 paperbound edition of the book by University Press is avaliable through Amazon, or your favorite dealer. Be forewarned though, Mr. Thompson is not receiving a dime for this newer version, due to a contractural outrage. So, check out Mr. Thompson's site first, before resorting to this edition.
