Just up the road from where I live. Washington Old Hall is a delightful stone-built 17th-century manor house, which incorporates parts of the original medieval home of George Washington's direct ancestors. It is from here that the family took their surname of 'Washington'.

It´s a very beautiful house and garden! I would´nt mind living there. So the Washington family took their surname from the hall. Does it say what name they had before?

Did Old George ever set foot on the place after the American Revolution?

Did Old George ever set foot on the place after the American Revolution? I don't think so he would probably been sent to the Tower of London for treason!

And yet old Ben Franklin still seems to be honored in the UK. His London Home is even a Museum.
