SO what if we would have purely concentrated on taking the mexicains off the walla when they started to climb.
Seems to me if you were to take out your bowie knife or grab one of the mexician guns as he came over the wall. With enough speed and passion you could sit there and just stab them one by one as they got to the top of the wall.
I dont think i would have even focused on anything else, cayse you could probley take down 20 a piece beofre they out runed the fort.. I know i could probley swing a Bowie knife in a mans chest extremely more efficent than loading a gun over and over a few times while the pack i am shooting at has moved to the walls. I dont know it was just a thought i had last night when i was trying to sleep.

The defenders did do all that you mentioned. There were knives and tomahawks flying through the air and they did quite a bit of damage to the Mexican forces. But when you're outnumbered 5,000 to 250, it's only a matter of time before you can't hold on any longer.

The way the defenders were positioned about the fort, we're talking maybe 30 men posted on the north wall against 1,000 men trying to get in at that point. Not good odds.

It was a lost cause to begin with. 14-1600 professional soldiers against 187-250 volunteers are bad odds indeed. They never stood a chance...
