For those of you who havent read the article on the Alamo Film site, I reposted it here, along with the comments I wrote into the channel's contact section. I can't belive this is what American kids are learning about the Alamo...
FROM "NICK NEWS BUMP" "My name is Salviola. I'm from San Antonio, Texas, and the Alamo is in my backyard.
In 1718, the mission of San Antonio de la Valero was established. The church structure is still standing today and it is known as the Alamo.
The battle for the Alamo is often remembered as a rebellion of a small group of brave Texas farmers fighting against the Mexican army. What you may not know is that at the time, Texas was part of Mexico.
By the early 1800s, a lot of people living in San Antonio were farmers who brought their slaves with them. In 1829, Mexico abolished slavery and what followed was years of conflict between farmers who wanted to keep their slaves and Mexican authorities. This conflict led up to the battle for the Alamo.
In the end, Gen. Santa Ana and 5,000 Mexican soldiers surrounded the Alamo and all the defenders of the mission were killed.
So, when you remember the Alamo, think about the soldiers, the battle and the true story behind it."

And here's what i wrote in to say...
"Since "Nick News Bump" doesnt have a contact page, I figured I write my comments here. I'm writing to you concerning an episode recently aired featuring the story of the Alamo. As an Alamo buff I was very disspointed in the segment because of the view it gives the youngsters in this country about the Alamo. The battle was NOT fought for slavery and that was hardly even an issue. The Alamo was fought because the Mexicans were stripping away all the rights that they gave the Texas settlers and the Texans had enough of it. Instead of showing a story of how brave men fought and died for what they believed in, you paint a picture of slave owning animals who died for there stubborn views of slavery. You should all be ashamed of youselves. And I hope in the future, your little news bumps will tell the truth of crucial events in American history.
Greg"

So, will next week's NEWS BUMP feature the little misunderstanding at Zacatecas when dictator Santa Anna massacred 5,000 of his own people in cold blood---men, women and children?

Wikipedia's little BUMP about the revolt in Zacatecas:
In May 1835, Mexican federalists in Zacatecas rose in revolt against Mexican president Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna, who had suspended the Mexican Constitution and established a dictatorship the previous year. Santa Anna responded by crushing the rebels. He then rewarded his centralist soldiers by allowing them two days of rape and pillage in Zacatecas, during which more than two thousand noncombatants were killed.
So, when you remember Zacatecas, think about the soldiers who raped and pillaged there and that prince among men, Santa Anna.

Maybe you should write them again, i would love to see their reply. So would I! To say it was all about slavery is an incredible simplification. What happend to the fight against Santa Anna´s dictatorship and the opposition to the annulment of the 1824 constitution? The immigration stop of 1830? etc. etc. Funny that such an article should appear on an Alamo site...

This protest at the Alamo last year clearly shows that many agree with Nicolodean's spin on the Alamo.

It seems to be a widespread belief judging from the pic. I wonder who put that idea about slavery into their heads...

What really gets me is the irony that most of the men in the Alamo probably could not have afforded to own slaves, even if they'd wanted them. They were mainly young guys with dreams.
