Hi All. Just a heads-up that I will be having a music CD released in the next couple of weeks titled : "OUTSIDE THE ALAMO, Songs of Ned Huthmacher Performed by John Beland". As noted on the Facebook page, "John Beland puts his own special brand on the songs. If you like good old 1960's- 1970's Folk, Country/Rock, Folk/Rock, plus a couple that sound like they've come from across the Big Pond down the UK way, you will enjoy this album." "Outside The Alamo" is a CD project years in the making. The title may be misleading. Though there IS one song about the Alamo and it is mentioned in another, this collection of songs focuses on my interests 'outside the Alamo'. As the release date gets nearer, I will inform you how and where to purchase copies of your own. Thanks. Here's the Facebook page link: www.facebook.com/groups/346277248807325/Attachments:

Regarding some of the lyrics for "Age Of Reason", a song about getting older and realizing what the important things in life really are. Some of you who live in the frigid zone where snow falls and ice forms may remember milk being delivered to your doorstep by the local dairy truck. The milkman would place your bottles on the steps at the crack of dawn ready to be enjoyed by early risers. Late risers would open their kitchen door to find that the milk had frozen and the cream had risen to the top, bursting the cap. As kids, we would skim the sweet frozen cream from the top of the bottle and then eat it like like ice cream. To us, it was the best part. In the song, the lyrics say, "Summer's gone, the years are foldin' suddenly we've all grown old, and yet the spark of light will not be dimmed. Hold your dreams, but face the present, though it may not be that pleasant, realize the cream's yet to be skimmed," meaning that the best part, after all, is yet to come.

Jeffrey Dane's Amazon.com review of the CD. Thanks so much, Jeffrey!( 5 stars ) This is an outstanding CD containing superb “listenin’ music” (as some might say, regionally). The songs on this recording, written by Texas historian Ned Huthmacher, are evocative, reflective, and even haunting. A great composer and conductor once said, “…. at an actual concert of one of my works it is of more value for the listener to let the music surround him and play freely upon the emotions. If, during that or a subsequent hearing, the music makes an eloquent appeal, then the piece warrants further study.” This recommendation is a superlative guideline for virtually any music we hear; it has an application to these songs, and most of us couldn’t go wrong with that musical counsel. “Takes thinkin’ on” is the first thought that might come to mind here: let these songs surround you, and absorb the rewards they offer. -- Jeffrey Dane --

Here's a brand new video from the CD! Sort of a Louisiana Swamp Rock tune performed by John Beland. No stranger to Swamp Rock, John Beland had formed Linda Ronstadt's backing band, Swampwater. Enjoy! youtu.be/8WOl1cCA8IYLEAVE IT TO THE ONES performed by John Beland
