To all guests and new users, welcome to the Alamo Sports aka the Alamo Central forum. We have really grown over the last couple of years to become one of the best places for Alamo and Texas history discussion on the world wide web! We have also become known as the "Alamo Site with a twist" because of the many different boards and threads in the off topic section which I hope you will all enjoy. We are happy to have members from all over the United States and members from England, Wales, and Denmark! If you are wondering why we got our unique name, see the "Why Alamosports?" thread located in the news and updates section. For guests, please sign up and join in on the great discussion! For new members, welcome and all opinions are accepted here! Please make sure to read the rules of conduct before posting.
Sincerely Greg (Site administrator)

Hi, Greg. Thanks for the welcome. I just found your site while surfing through another site. I have lived in the San Diego area since I left Texas at age 19, enlisting in the Navy. I was born in Port Arthur, raised in Groves. All our family lives in the Beaumont-Port Arthur area, so we drive back there and spend about a month in the spring and a month in the fall. So I was born Texan and will die Texan. On my last trip back there in March/April, I took a quick four-day driving trip visiting a lot of Texas history sites I'd never seen before, and took a lot of digital pictures at Coleta Creek, Goliad, Bracketville and John Wayne's Alamo, the real Alamo, and finished up at San Jacinto. What a great trip, with perfect weather and the Texas wildflowers in full bloom. Thanks again for the welcome.

Thanks, Crazyhorse. It's such an interesting subject and was drilled into us growing up in Texas, how could anybody not really get into the subject? As I'd mentioned somewhere, I finally got a chance this year to visit many of the sites, such as Goliad, Coleta Creek, etc. Great time. And like many people interested in history, I study the Indian Wars of the Plains Indians, mainly those along the Bozeman Trail and the Little Big Horn. I never get enough of this.

Hi Greg, Thanks for the welcome. I have been looking at the forum for sometime and have decided to join. I live in Somerset, England, but have an interest in the history of The Alamo. I have visited twice and am going back again in Feb-March 2008. My interests include shooting, Asian cookery and Brad Pitt!. Is there anyone out there who looks like Brad?

Hi Ned, I do have a favourite Thai recipe "Pra Ram Long Song" (Beef and Water Chestnuts). I don't cook a lot of Thai food as galangel is not easily available here. My favourite Asian food is Indian and I tend to prefer a really hot curry.

Thanks fellers, that's why I'm here. I recently moved to Dripping Springs. I haven't had a chance to do so yet, but I plan to drive up to Hamilton Pool Road in the next few days and see how much of the set is visible from the highway. On occasion I see Mr Reimers, who owns the land, but I haven't had a chance to ask him about the possibility of exploring the set.

(Sorry for not replying sooner, Kate, but I only now spotted this post. It is important, when you open a thread to go back and reread a couple of pages, before responding. I will try to remember that, in the future.)
