As I hadn't been to the movie theater in a long while, I thought I would drop by and take my chances. On the basis of who was starring in the movie, I ended up seeing Al Pacino's latest work, 88 Minutes ; I 'm glad that I did.
Pacino stars as Jack, a forensic doctor who gives testimony for the prosecution in murder cases. Nine years earlier, his testimony was responsible for putting away a serial killer. Now, the guy is set for execution. On the eve of the execution, however, another murder is committed that matches all the details of the serial cases the condemned man has been convicted of. Then Jack receives a call on his cel phone from someone who tells him in a disguised voice that he has only 88 minutes to live. The significance of the number--- 88 minutes---is explained later on in the picture. Meanwhile Jack has very little time to discover who the killer is and then stop them from committing their next crime.
As a suspense-filled murder mystery, 88 Minutes has enough twists and red herrings to keep you guessing, as well as on the edge of your seat.
I highly recommend the film to lovers of mysteries and Al Pacino. The guy has still got it. It's worth a second viewing and I may just do so to see what I may've missed the first time around.

I might go see it (or wait for the DVD). I just watched a clip from the movie on David Letterman. Al Pacino was on the show too (he´s one of my favourite actors ever since, "Panic in Needle Park" and "Serpico"). On the web somebody made fun of his haircut in the movie, saying it was so fluffy that it stands inches high. Oh well, another cheap shot...

The film has been getting some poor reviews. I guess this means that I must have bad taste.
As I understand it, the film has been available on DVD in Europe since October, 2007. Is this true?

I just checked one of the biggest DVD online shops in Denmark. It´s been on DVD here since March 18, 2008. I don´t know about the rest of Europe, but English Amazon (amazon.co.uk) says it was released October 30, 2007. Apparently, it varies from one European country to another... Congrats with your bad taste...

I may give it a second viewing. As I understand it, "88 Minutes" was held back, much like THE ALAMO (2004) was. To many, that is a kiss of death for a film.
Meanwhile, peope are getting all hyped about this 'must-see' new comedy called "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" and I wouldn't watch it if you gave me a free ticket.
Has it really come to that, where good is now bad and bad is now good? Or, is this merely part of the price of getting older?
