Enjoy folks, this is the last contest Alamosports will ever have. With advertising months in advance, and increased members, still only 3 submissions in a week.
Thanks, Greg

It certainly did draw attention to the board, though. We went from 66 members to 79. Not bad.

I hope you have another contest. It would be a shame since it did draw a lot of attention.

It's sometimes very difficult to get new members and even more so to get them to regularily post. I think you are doing everything possible to attract members as your site is very well thought out with some interesting topics.

It´s a great site Davy has created! Davy sent me a PM about the contest but there was only hours to deadline so it was an impossible task to answer all those tough questions in that short time. Could it be that the questions were too tough since only a few participated in the contest? Not everybody has a lot of books on the Alamo for reference. Maybe you could get more people to be in the contest if all the answers could be found on the web. - Just some thoughts. As for members, we must remember that Alamo buffs are a limited group of people. Personally I think that the quality of the forum is more important than the number of members...

All the answers could be found by clicking the "Search" button at the top of the page and then typing in what you are looking for. As for how hard the questions were, I didn't find them extremely hard but they still have to be challenging. Maybe I'll give it another try next year...

Greg, thanks for your pm, it was much appreciated, please don't quit on the idea of holding further contests as I am sure that interest can only increase the more that people "spread the word"
As Seguin pointed out we are a limited group of people (Alamo buffs) and this is one of only 3 worthwhile forums that I am aware of on the net, so please don't be downhearted about the response to the comp' I for my part am spreading the word over here in the UK, and have got a few people in my pub now avidly asking questions about all things Alamo, whereas a couple of months ago they thought it was just a car rental service ( I kid you not!).
So keep the faith and we out here will try and do our bit to draw more attention to this forum and hopefully come next time you will have a much better response and you will feel that all your hard work has not been in vain.
Best regards
John.

I really wanted to participate but you, Nef and Coleblooded know of my severe personal problems and as much as i attempted to answer, i couldn't get my mind on it.....thats a top notch indication on clinical depression. But hopefully, i'll win next year. ;D
