But, now, I'm putting on "Piper's Day". It features the typical daily piping routine for the 1st Battalion The Queen's Own Highlanders, including their reveille, mess calls, marches, retreats (played to indicate the a winding down of the day).

Led Zep is still one of the classic hard rock bands that I like to listen to. My all-time fave in this genre is The Who!

Robert Plant was selected by a majority vote as the best lead vocalist of all rock groups. This is at channel 93.7 (FM) - The Arrow in Houston.

I remember 1964 quite well for a 6 year old boy. It was just a few months after JFK's assassination that the Fab Four came to the U.S. and appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show (in the same studio where Letterman does his show, now.) My oldest brother was 16 and he hid me on the floorboard of the backseat so that I could see "A Hard Day's Night" at the drive-in theatre. I started first grade that year and I remember our class even argued about who should win - LBJ or Goldwater. It is the second year that I remember Xmas clearly. I remember my older brothers wearing penny loafers, narrow-legged slacks, and button down collars. They argued with my parents about letting their hair grow out a bit so they could wear bangs like the Beatles.

My favorite band is The Who. They helped me survive high school in the mid-'70s. I can't get enough of their music. I even made a point to see Roger Daltry in "Litsztomania" even though the movie was panned. I have Quadrophenia on dvd.

i though the entire set was made of the same material, but i'm not the person to ask. The Dripping Springs church under construction. Just plywood, tarpaper and scored styrofoam. Oh, no. Then, it is destined for the dirt.

yeah the editing was really choppy, and the barracks were done the wrong way. i have now watched this movie every day since sept 28. i might not have watched the whole film every day but at least 30 minutes. i just cant get enough! I agree 100% about the editing and the "barracks". The convento does not extend far enough beyond the chapel. But, ya gotta admit, that's the most authentic looking chapel of any movie featuring the Alamo.

Is there any evidence that Sam Houston ever wore a do? You know, that tuft of whiskers right below the lower lip. I like Dennis Quaid's performance, but the do is beginning to bother me. All the photos and paintings I've seen of the real Gen'ral Sam show no evidence of a do. Did I miss even one?

Why, the Houston Texans, of course! It used to be the Houston Oilers, as you would expect, until the last couple of years before the owner, Bud Adams, moved them to Tennessee. The whole city was so upset with Adams and his candid negative remarks about the city of Houston that we couldn't wait for him and his team to leave.
