New palisade exhibit now under construction by the Alamo church. No "little pile of sticks".

Since a ramp to the cannon platform was considered unsafe for visitors to the Alamo, stairs were added instead. Attachments:

I know Joe Musso has Wayne's rifle from the film. Can't find any decent close-up photos of it in my photo files. Will look, though.

I'd like to get some pictures of the Ky rifle that Denver carried. It looked like a nice original flinter. I've seen the stills where he has one of the phony prop Kentuckies.Don't need that. Like to get some info on the real gun, barrel length, caliber etc. He used a real flintlock in the GRIZZLY ADAMS series I will look for photos, pwstine. Do you think it was the same rifle as Pyle used in Grizzly Adams?

My cousin spent a lot of money & time on a family history and informed me that we are related to Dolphin Floyd. There's a small town here in Texas named for him, Floydada. Poor guy got killed on his birthday. Thanks for sharing, powderkeg. Nice to see you again!

Looks like they are starting to build the palisade representation from the SW corner of the church to the Low Barrack foundation by the "perch". That center "gate" section may be to allow access for emergency vehicles. (Photo: Ruben M. Lopez)

Depending on how the covid situation is in March and who may be on Alamo Plaza come March 6, Dawn Ceremony or no, Texas Bob Reinhardt would like to get an idea of how many of you all will be in town then to see if it's enough to plan the Breakfast at The Buckhorn this year. No official announcements on www.thealamo.org as of yet, though I have heard how some events like the arrival of the Gonzales 32 will be virtual only. Other events like "An Evening With Heroes" will be scaled back to ensure social distancing. Dawn Ceremony may also follow suit, but it will occur. Event updates will be listed on the official Alamo Facebook page www.facebook.com/OfficialAlamo/Along with the Arrival of the Gonzales 32 on March 1st, the arrival of Santa Anna's troops on February 23rd will also be a virtual, pre-taped, online event.

Meeting lasted all day! (9:00am-7:00pm)
Texas Historical Commission voted 12-2 to keep the cenotaph where it now stands in the plaza. (1 abstained).
Online THC poll/vote: 1,625 for moving ..... 29,003 against moving.

Another month gone by and the Alamo is still closed due to pandemic concerns.
Of significance though, the 2 Alamo cannon tubes from the Maverick collection that once graced the entrance to La Villita are being restored and refurbished by Texas A&M and will soon return to the Alamo where they belong!
