Here's this year's Alamo Plaza Christmas tree, as seen today on the Alamo cam. (I was there just this morning.) I'll try to post some shots of how the tree looks at night, just as soon as my brother makes me a disc of the photos we took. I do hope the night shots came out all right.

I'm thinking about doing something different. I usually go to my brother's for Xmas dinner. I will probably do that again only this time I will wear my kilt. My sister-in-law is getting involved in her genealogy, including her maiden name MacKenzie history. And, my nephew is getting into the Jacobite Rebellion and our family connection to it. My brother and niece are still not interested in any sort of history. To them I say, "General McAuliffe"!

I apologize for not being here more often. I've also not been able to attend at the Alamo Film Forum much, either. Work has kept me very busy in the last few months. Business travel has increased markedly.

I just rented THE BISHOP'S WIFE, which stars Cary Grant and looks like a good family Christmas movie. Anyone else seen it?

Just watched both THE BISHOP'S WIFE and THE NATIVITY STORY today. I thought the first was very slow paced and cheezy at some points but the overall story wasn't bad. The second movie I mentioned was a very good story and a touching ending. The three actors playing the wise men were perfect for the role!

Glad you enjoyed THE NATIVITY STORY. I think that they should show it theatrically every Christmas season. 16 year old Keisha Castle-Hughes (Oscar nominated star of WHALE RIDER at aged 12) was believable as Mary and portrayed her as a human being and not some pious icon.

Careful. This representative of the religion of peace and tolerence might be listening.

Yes, peace and tolerance but apparently only towards fellow muslims who obey the fanatics! At least that´s the impression you get, because the fanatics seems to set the agenda. Fanatics are bad news for all religions, whether it´s christian fanatics who kill doctors working at abortion clinics, or it´s muslim fanatics blowing up innocent people.

Yeah, but unlike those misguided fools who bomb clinics, the Islamic terrorists do not have a specific target in mind. They want us dead. Everyone of us.

I also like to watch BEN-HUR during the Christmas season because there is also a Nativity scene at the beginning. Lasting just over five minutes, it still is a well-shot sequence...
