Whats your favorite part of Thanksgiving? Personally, gotta go with all of the above, great food, great tradition, and always nice to see the family.

Yeah, the food and the tradition are both great, but I could hardly enjoy either without the presence of family and friends.
I'm glad that my brother and his wife will be coming here for Thanksgiving. (And that I'll be heading back to California for Christmas.)

I won't be having a huge amount of people over, actually just four of us, for Thanksgiving this year, but I still love all the little traditions. How many other people (if they have an artificial christmas tree) take it out on Thanksgiving day?

I will usually start putting up the Christmas decorations on Thanksgiving weekend, but reserve the tree trimming until December 6th, St. Nicholas' Day.
Thanksgiving evening is usually reserved for the first viewing of IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE.

Oh, I have to at least watch it one more time, on Christmas Eve. But not before the Christmas Eve viewing of Alastair Sims' SCROOGE.

Oh, I should've added that, back in the day before VCRs, or DVDs, we would go to midnight mass and then come home just in time for the 1:30AM showing of SCROOGE. I kind of miss that rushing home, so as not to miss the special television event. Now-a-days, when you can just pop in a DVD whenever you want, the excitement of it is not as keen.

You have to get there about 11:00 PM, if you want to get a good seat. But, not to worry. For the choir sings Christmas carols all the while. The decorations in the church are also something to see.

Does everyone also hold a lit candle during Mass, or am I thinking of the easter vigil?

Does everyone also hold a lit candle during Mass, or am I thinking of the easter vigil? I believe that's the Easter vigil. They also remove the purple shroud from the crucifix at Easter vigil.

As to Thanksgiving traditions, I still like to watch the Macy's parade early in the morning.

Yeah, I remember when my Grandpa was staying with us over the holiday how he would wake everyone up at 6:00 AM by shouting something like, "Get up all you lazybones, the parade's about to start!" It all seems so long ago now.
But I remember...
