The ads for Billy-Bob Thornton's latest film, THE ASTRONAUT FARMER, look very good. (I think it's due to come out next month.) Seems that Billy-Bob is a farmer who decides to build his own spacecraft. Let's keep our collective eye on this one.

It reminds me of the made for tv movie that Andy Griffith did back in the 70's He was a junk dealer that wanted to salvage the old Apollo landing craft on the moon. I think the show was called "Salvage 1"

I think the show was called "Salvage 1" I remember that one. Also, there was a movie some years back about these three kids who build their own spaceship in the basement, then visit a planet where aliens have been monitoring television broadcasts and then imagining that that's what life on earth was really like. Does anyone know what film I'm talking about, or it's name?

Billy-Bob shines once more. Astronaut Farmer is a film that will have you on your feet cheering, while gripping the handrails at the same time.
With an able supporting cast including Virginia Madsen and Bruce Dern, Billy-Bob portrays Charles Farmer, a Texas rancher with a dream of being in space. This is no mere pipe dream, Farmer, an ex-Air Force jet pilot had been training for the astronaut program at NASA but got the boot, due to family problems, Now, with a supporting family of a wife, 15 year old son and two young daughters, Farmer attempts to see his dream become a reality, despite opposition from NASA, his mortgage banker, the FBI and his neighbors. With enough plot twists to keep you guessing, Astronaut Farmer is definitely a high-flying 'Mission Accomplished.
SPOILER: Do not read, if you want to be surprized. @ @ @ @ @ @ @ @ @ @ @ @ @ @ @ @ @ @ (Yes, that really is Bruce Willis, doing a cameo as an Air Force Colonel. Well, I told you not to look,)
