Just finished watching for the first time believe it or not "Sweet Home Alabama" I recognised most of the places in the film as I have visited them in Georgia. I enjoyed the film. That's funny how they will choose one location to represent another. I just recently saw a film that substituted New Mexico for Texas. (Don't tell them Texicans, though. They are a prickly lot.)

It's Elvis month on Turner Classic Movies. 30 years since his passing THE KING still has a loyal following of fans.
Before coming to the library, I watched a taped concert ELVIS: That Was The Way It Was. Whatever your opinion of Elvis, or his music, that guy sure could perform. His rapport with his audience was amazing.

One of, if not THE nicest celebrity to fans ever! Treated everyone well and with respect. Almost never turned a fan away from an autograph.

The Alamo is everywhere; you cannot avoid it. I was just flipping the channel over to TCM and there was this Broderick Crafword movie on called BIG HOUSE. In the film, Crawford's name is Alamo Smith. Why? Who knows.

Ah, yes - Elvis. It´s like when JFK died. We all remember where we were when we heard he was dead. A few days ago I bought a 2-dvd called "Elvis On Elvis" (2006). It´s Elvis talking about his life all the way through. Very interesting! Disc 2 is "special features". A program about "The Karate Years" and "Rare Silent Graceland Footage". I´ve always liked Elvis. Not all his movies were great but his music sure were! I love to watch his concerts when they´re on tv...

Elvis was in one western although I cant remember the name. But the final line goes soemthing like, "Now I've got the Flaming star of death." The 1960 film is called FLAMING STAR and casts Elvis as a half-breed Indian. Here's an IMDb synopsis: Sam Burton's second wife Neddy is Indian, their son Pacer a half-breed. As struggle starts between the whites and the Kiowas, the Burton family is split between loyalties. Neddy and Sam are killed; Pacer sides with the Indians, his half-brother Clint with the whites.

While channel surfing the other night, I caught the end of an episode of Gunsmoke. Denver Pyle guest starred as a circuit judge. It was funny seeing him stand next to Ken Curtis. The Gambler and Captain Dickinson, united once again.
