We all love this movie, but there are parts to this movie where mistakes can be seen (such as equipment visable) and other things. Have fun with these and if you don't see one listed here, post your own.
1. In the original cut of the movie, in one of the pull back scenes of the Alamo surrounded by the Mexican army, you could clearly see a bright yellow school bus motoring on its rounds of Bracketville Texas School children. It is not visible in later prints, and there are those who say it was never there in the first place.
2. During the last Mexican army attack, a dead soldier folds his right arm, approaching his hand to his head.
3. The soldiers sing "Happy Birthday to You" to a little girl, 57 years before it was written.
4. At the end of the film, when Lisa Dickinson is being led away from the Alamo on a mule, a large smudge appears on her left cheek when she is being led past Santa Anna that was not present when she was placed on the mule.
5. Sam Houston refers to the Alamo as being on the Rio Bravo (aka Rio Grande) when the Alamo is located on the San Antonio River.
6. When Travis falls to the ground dead, his hand can clearly be seen moving towards his head to be out of the way of charging Mexican soldiers.
And here's one I noticed myself. Right before Travis is killed, he is standing on the cannon platform. A soldier is wounded and Travis says to him, "Get to the infirmary." What the hell is a doctor gonna be able to do at that time? The battle was lost, and the infirmary was not the palce to be.

And then we have all the historical goofs, such as Fannin being killed in an ambush so he can´t get to the rescue of the Alamo. Maybe we could make a list?

The school bus in the distance is a well remembered blooper that never was. There's a still of the final charge on the church that was taken between the scenes where crew members are seen standing around amongst the Mexican troops. It's in this still that you can see the bus in the distance. But it never actually appeared on film, once the call to ROLL CAMERA came. As to the supposedly 'dead' Mexican soldier seen moving. Who said he was dead? In real battle, people do not just fall over stone dead. They writhe and flop and moan and twitch. The scene with Harvey's hand moving towards his head probably should've been recut.

Did you know that there is a website that's dedicated solely to Movie Bloopers? Some viewers pick out hundreds of them. Boon lights showing, crew members being where they shouldn't be, props LOOKING like props on camera. The list goes on.
I don't think that we should be counting historical inaccuracies as movie 'bloopers', or 'goofs', however.
Back in the day when celluoid was king, audiences would pack movie houses to experience something special on the big screen. They would view a film and if they liked it, would even come back for a second viewing.
Today, in the age of DVD, freeze frame, rewind and slo mo, the home theater viewer has the ability and luxury to scrutinize a movie as never before, something that the producers of the film had never intended in the first place. While all films have their share of goofs, that is not the reason we went to see them for in the first place.

What the hell is a doctor gonna be able to do at that time? The battle was lost, and the infirmary was not the place to be. Well, that is Dickinson (Ken Curtis) who says that. And yes, it is a lamely scripted line. Given the circumstances, "Get him to the Long Barrack and give him a gun," would've been a more realistic suggestion.

Is this the still? Because I don´t see any bus in the distance... That is the still. Look beyond the trail of smoke toward Pinto Mountain. That hazy cylinder just below the mountain is suppose to be the bus. (The other side of that row of covered wagons.)

A scene where you can see a vehicle is right at the beginning of the final assault reel where "dawn" is just breaking over the facade of the Alamo chapel. If you look to the left of the frame, you can see a white pickup truck going past the palisade.

I can see a very small light (white?) spot below the mountain and past the row of covered wagons. I guess that must be it. Hard to say what it is though, but if there´s a road there then it must be a car of sorts... Great bloopers! The mattresses and the wire to Widmarks gun are the worst, I think. Of course, having Jocko etc. in the wrong place is´nt good either, but at least he rode out with Houston and thus survived the Alamo... ;D

OK y'all, get out your Waynamo DVDs and go to the end of the "last night" scenes, ("Bunkum and Bosh," etc.) which conclude with the pull back out and over the palisade. The next scene is of the 13th "dawn" behind the church, which almost looks like a still (one of the title paintings was done from this shot); but wait - if you look to the right, at the edge of the low barrack, closest to the sun, just above the top of the palisade, a silver or white bus or truck drives into view headed toward the "rising" sun. The cut is only a few seconds, and the bus appears in only a few frames toward the end, but it was probably much more noticeable on the big screen in the theaters.

I cannot understand why Jocko rode in with Houston, incidentally I didn't actually see him with the riders until they stopped outside the buildings in the town, then to ride out with them as he did, does anyone know why he did this? his horse seemed to be really small and he rode a different one when he entered the Alamo with Bowie.
Also he is seen standing around a lot especially in the scene where Bonham comes to tell them that Fannin isn't coming.
I know the scene where his wife was leaving the Alamo was meant to be serious but I couldn't help laughing when she told him to "Get Back Up on The Walls" I often wonder if she wanted rid of him.

You explained it in far more detail that I did.

The Jocko death scene that never was. (By me.)SCENE: West Wall. Jocko is seen fending off a Mexican soldier with his Springfield trapdoor, when his substancial hat slides down over his eyes, temporarily blinding him. The Mexican soldier, upon seeing this, drops his musket and then draws a saber with which he then proceeds to run Jocko through, right in between the buttons, so that the shirt may be returned to Western Costumes, unscathed. JOCKO: (In his dying breath) Damn you Nell, I was free!

Craig Covner provided this photo to help unravel the school bus mystery. Says Craig: "I can't find a bus in the pic, but you give it a try." Well dang, if I can see one, either, Craig.

Another photo from the Craig Covner Collection. Says Craig: "Though certainly not visible in the movie, the honkin-big red livestock truck and car to its left were evident in an endorsement/ad in Parents Magazine that used this still."

The same still, but without Craig's notations.

There is so much to spot in this film I doubt there will still be many more things that haven't been noticed.
