A gathering of Alamo buffs took place this past Saturday, September 23rd, at Joseph Musso's Alamusso Museum. Around 25, or so folks showed up for the event, including Skip Malinowski, Socorro Dilisio, Jeff Morey, Jerry Laing, Ned Huthmacher, Phil Martin, Frank Thompson, Craig Covner, Phil Spangenberger, David Zucker, Steven Bowie (direct descendant of James Bowie, a free man of color), his wife, among others. It was a sort of letting off steam party for Baby Boomers with no other avenues of release in a world that seems to have passed them by, in favor of video games, TV trash and a younger generation that seems to be becoming less and less in touch with its country's roots and basic values. When the Boomers are gone, who will be left to carry on the Alamo torch, or, to even remember? Nevermind that, a good time was had by all, as stories memories and the most recent of Alamo research material were shared and explored, all over a gracious spread of foodstuffs and drinkables, courtesy of Joe Musso himself. David Zucker gave us all a DVD preview of some of his most recent fillm efforts, while Craig Covner delighted us with a stack of Mark Lemon's latest Alamo artwork. No doubt about it, we'll all have to 'do 'er again', real soon! (Photos courtesy of Craig Covner.)One of John Wayne's outfits from THE ALAMO. (The shirt was first worn by Wayne in HONDO.) Juxtaposed with you, Nef, "The Duke" looks smallish. I know Wayne was tall, but did he have a small frame? Or, is there a perspective issue with the camera?
Where is Musso's museum?

nef, or should I say Craig......you asked me recently if you know me. Never met each other, but on the recommendation of Mikey B, you responded to a letter I sent you regarding some details of the Alamo east wall above 'houses'. You gave me a call on that. Yeesh! This must be 11 years ago. I'm of the New Jersey contingent, and yes, I know Tom Feely, and Billy C.

Since I was the photographer of this picture, I had to add myself in later. Davy Webb added Frank Thompson who did not arrive until after the photograph was taken.

Well, another Alamusso meeting has come and gone. Last night's gathering was a mid-week one, because the folks gathered there had only done so because I was in town.
Those included Joe Musso, Joe******, Larry Grimsley, Jerry Laing, Frank Thompson, Craig Covner, Benton Jennings and myself. Joe's sister Gennie had the house decorated very festively for Christmas, while Joe had the snacks all laid out and the drinks handy. We all sat and chatted 'Alamo', 'Flags Of Our Fathers' (Which Joe had storyboarded and acted as a historical consultant on, having been a marine himself) as well as many other films and topics. For dinner, we sent out for some pizza.
Five of us present, Jerry, Larry, Benton, Craig and myself had all been in Alamo, the Price Of Freedom, so we did a mini-reunion photo, followed by group photos of all present. (Taken By Gennie.)
Those six and a half hours flew by all too fast and we were soon at the door prolonging our 'Goodbyes". As soon as I get back to Texas, I will post some photos. (And I''ll also be discussing what Benton Jennings had to say about the TRAVIS film he starred in.)

I don't remember Joe ******'s last name, so he's Joe ******, for now. I never was any good at remembering names.
People will sometimes ask, "What would you wish for, if you had only one wish?" I think that I would like to know the name of each ane every person in the world. Just think how far that little knowledge would get you. Quite an 'ice breaker', yes?
