If Mo ever peeks in here, he will have quite a job filling up this new thread with quotes, photos and fun. Here's Mo, proudly displaying his copy of A NEWS RELEASE: JOHN WAYNE'S THE ALAMO. The 185 page book, distributed to news services worldwide, was limited to a printing of only 10,000. It's chuck full of quotes, behind the scenes details and an impressive collection of movie stills. (The 185 pages were supposed to represent the number of the defenders of the Alamo. "185 of your friends, relatives and fellow Texans are holed up in a crumbling adobe church on the banks of the Rio Bravo, buying you that time. I hope they remember...I hope Texas remembers.")

Rich Curilla, manager of Alamo Village, is the foremost authority on the place. If he doesn't finally get around to writing a book on the topic, (as above) a wealth of good information and memories will be lost forever. What about it, Rich?

I don't remember that shot in the film, is it a blown up still? No, there were folks on set with their own 'Brownie' cameras and a lot of interesting 'home' photos were taken, such as the one below of Wayne, watching the barricade get put up by crew members.
