Other than the "Pink Hump" did you find the Alamo compound the same as when you were filming POF? After POF wrapped, Happy Shahan white-washed all of the faux limestone walls to get the place looking more like the Waynamo again. The roofless rooms along the west wall were all roofed over with plywood and tarpaper in order to make them more permanent structures. Happy then had the breach in the north wall timbered up altogether, with the result that about 1/2 of the wall is now comprized of stockade. While some of the new west wall buildings were constructed upon the original Waynamo foundations, yet others were built upon bare ground, much like the Dripping Springs set. The "Price Of Freedom" Alamo church however, was constructed upon the original Waynamo chapel foundation. Perhaps this accounts for why it yet remains standing 19 years after the film's wrap. If I had my druthers, I'd de-Price Of Freedom the church facade by removing the bases from the upper statue niches. (Al Ybarra did without them when the building was originally constructed.) I'd also open up the upper windows once again. Presently, with the now stubby upper niches and lack of upper windows, the effect is a sort of squat, stubby facade. As most of the Waynamo set remains plastered over adobe, it must be patched and maintained almost constantly. Adobe breathes and causes cracking and fisions in the walls. That's why, if ever you should visit the Waynamo, it always looks as though it is ready to recieve its primer coat of paint. As to the Pink Hump? It is but a false front; Travis' 2nd story porch and stair are still hidden behind it. Somebody get some white paint and a few sledge hammers! ;D

Alamo Mo Jones recreates the John Wayne Davy Crockett scene from the Waynamo where Colonel Davy decides to explore the powder room with a torch. Danny Tulley looks on in wonder.

is that the inside of the chapel? Yes, the Waynamo. Here's the Dripping Springs version, same angle.

Yeah, Bromhead, a lot of scenes appear to have been filmed out of sequence. In Crockett's death scene, for instance, there are soldados already in the chapel when he arrives at the door! What are they doing there? Takin' pichurs.

Do "it do" live in Brackettville? Not presently. In his youger days though, he used to work at Alamo Village.

that one is a very cool shot. how many total pictures did you take on your visit? I only took one 36 exposure roll, while at the Waynamo. There were four of us taking photos that day, though and we just exchanged them later. Below, is me on my second visit to the Waynamo, back in 1974.
