Hi Greg; I do have the 3hr version and I know it's not the best of the Alamo movies; it's still an Alamo movie. There are some redeeming factors ; Raul Julia; Alec Baldwin; The Wayneamo; and thats about it. The rest of it in my opinion is a very bad made for tv movie. I wish AMC or HBO would do Gates of the Alamo especially since they do such a good job with period flims. Well Kathy's callling me back to work on the house( I take a break when I can and post) gota go. She's got red hair and is prone to Irish temperment.) Bye Al

I've only skimmed through Gates of the Alamo but it would make an excellant film! Crockett's death scene was awesome! Maybe even my book can have a movie made out of it...

Got this cool Yugoslavian pull out ad for THE ALAMO (1960) for Christmas from my brother Rob and his wife Joan. It is 4 pages, about the size of a comic book and printed on very flimsy newspaper stock. The cover, featuring John Wayne as Davy Crockett

Interesting. For all the stills they must've had at their disposal, they chose one of Richard Widmark from another movie. Looks like he is wearing a six-gun. Can anyone identify the film?

Widmark sure did like that particular hat, didn't he? Wonder how many films he wore it in . . .

You all have some cool stuff. I inherated a movie prop flag w/cert signed by Happy Shahan and a JW picture with frame made from wagon parts of a covered wagon from the Alamo w/cert signed by Virginia. My dad knew Happy and visited Alamo Village.

One of my friend live in San Antonio and I want to give her a birth day gift. I think the DVD of documentary (Alamo) is good for her. What you guys think about this gift?
