So, was it your impression that they got things 'pretty close to right', or is it more of a Disneyland version of days gone by?

Well some of the buildings are original so they are as near to right as you can get, but it's definitely a tourist trap, plenty of gift shops, it's nice to walk around, and worth a visit.

I may be taking a family vacation there this summer. Its my choice. Either Williamsburg or Boston. I'm leaning towards WB because I want to see the Museum of the Confederacy in Richmond which is only like an hour away.

The Museum of the Confederacy and the White house are definitely worth visiting lots to see, there are so many places in Richmond worth visiting, Monument Ave. is where they have all the fabulous Confederate monuments, Hollywood Cemetery where a lot of Confederate heroes are buried, the State Capitol Building where Gen'l Lee was given command of the Army of Northern Virginia. I could go on and on, get yourself a good tourist guide before you go and then make yourself an itinery so you see as much as you can.
