Beautiful Luftwaffe uniform - and with all those medals on it! Quite costly, I would imagine. I always liked the British India helmets. They must be quite light and comfy to wear. You must have a big helmets, hats, caps and uniform collection. Kudos! Hopefully you have room for it all...

First of all, Bromy does not condone Nazism in any form. My collection is in the interest of history and collectibility Nazi SS helmet on the left and German Kriegsmarine (Navy) on the right.

Nice helmets! There must have been a lot of different insignias (or whatever it´s called) on that type of helmets, such as Wehrmacht, SS, Kriegsmarine, Afrika Korps etc. etc.

I have two more helmets to dress, one will be an Africa Korps and the other, i'm not sure yet, i do have the decals for a Luftwaffe helmet but i'll wait because the M35 helmet is on backorder.

Great stuff, Mike.
Back in the early Seventies when I was working for L.A. County, we were going through a stoeroom in the basement and found an old air raid warden's helmet. It seemed in perfect shape, until I touched the liner and the brittle leather just disintegrated. In vintage equipment like that, how do you maintain the leather and keep it from becoming brittle?

I use Lexol Neatsfoot formula. I really works on dry leather.

Oh, thanks. So, just how often do you have to apply it? Do you choose a day and then do all your leather, or do you merely check individual pieces and then just use as needed?

For the really old leather items in my collection, i will apply the Lexol once a month till it's soft and supple. If the leather is too far gone, lexol wont work. For other leather i will apply lexol maybe twice a year. On my new helmet, the leather was in places very dry and i applied a heavy coat of lexol and it seems like it is responding well.

I am in the process of restoring a old Martini Henry rifle c1878 It is in pretty bad shape and i doubt it could be fired safely. It will make a great wall hanger or could be used as a blanks only shooter for living history events. This is the stock photo from the place where i got it from. on mine the stock is in better shape than this photo. This is a shot of the receiver during the first phase of clean up. It's not as rusty as it appears in the photo. I have sprayed a good amount of WD40 on all metal parts.
