Thanks for the detailed review, Ted. Sounds like a book we would all like to have had, back when we were kids.

Yes indeed Neff, alot of the depictions of the compound are quite nice! especially the inside/outside views of the North Wall from several angles! Travis`s quarters and the kitchen are good as well I had pre ordered mine in Oct. from Amazon! TED COLE....aka....Cole_blooded

Alex again that book is outstanding in what you can read and your eyes take in that visual bombardment of what the Alamo compound is about in early 1836! ;D ;D TED COLE....aka....Cole_blooded

I'm working my way through my copy. Just finished the section on the church. Ol' Mark -- he done good!!
I wonder if he has any behind-the-scenes photos of his model, particularly some shots of Gary Foreman taking the photos that appeared in the book.
I'm curious how Gary got those ground-level angles of the rooms in the church. I understand there's a trap door or something in the middle of the model's plaza that you could pop up through to get low-angle shots of the interior of the compound.

You´re absolutely right about the trap door in the middle of the plaza! At The Alamo Studies forum there´s behind-the-scenes pics. There you can see the trap door and pics from when they build the model. Mark Lemon explains how it was all done there.

From a Danish comic book about Western hero Manos Kelly. As the story goes, the hero got his nick-name "Manos" ("Hands") when, as a child, he burned his hands very badly at the Alamo trying to save his parents.
