Here's a thread dedicated to those singing 'artists' whose only claim to fame is/was in ripping off other musical artists.
Let's get started:
Why is the signature Neil Diamond guitar riff from CHERRY CHERRY used so blatantly in THE ROMANTICS song WHAT I LIKE ABOUT YOU? To make matters worse, their rip-off is even being used in a tv commercial.
Why is Bob Dylan's tune, meter and rhyme scheme from SUBTERRANEAN HOMESICK BLUES so blatantly used in ESCAPE CLUB's song, WILD, WILD WEST? It is so obvious, they could never hope to deny it and get away with it.
Why didn't Whitney Houston sue the pants off of Mariah Carey for ripping off her singing style and stage antics? It should've been so obvious to Whitney and yet she has gone the other route by even praising Mariah for the rip-off. Oh well, I guess that complete imitation is the sincerest form of flattery--- and for making a buck, no doubt.
Okay, that's enough for now. You got inney?

But one thing Whitney and Mariah have in common is that they are both loons, off their rocker, a few bricks short of a load, their bread is half baked, their elevator doesn't go all the way to the top. Thats about it..

The melody in the chorus of the Whitney Houston song, THE GREATEST LOVE OF ALL is a complete ripoff of the melody in the chorus of Gordon Lightfoot's song, IF YOU COULD READ MY MIND.
To refresh your memory of the parts of each song I am talking about, I will type the lyrics below.
Lightfoot's chorus goes:
I never knew I could feel this way And I've got to say that I just don't get it. I don't know where we went wrong, But the feeling's gone and I just cant' get it back.
Houston's chorus goes:
I decided long ago, never to walk in anyone's shadows If I fail, if I succeed At least I'll live as I believe No matter what they take from me They can't take away my dignity.
The two tunes are just so similar that it can't merely be an honest mistake.

Whitney is going down hill faster than me, with her many drug addictions and Bobby Brown..
